My heart tore a little today for my Fafa. Nubbin has been quite the social butterfly lately and he's leaving his little brother in the dust.
Today, we had Nubbin's best friend from preschool over and the two of them ran around the yard playing 'good guy, bad guy.' This is a game that Fafa likes to play with Nubbin, but he was left out because there can only be 1 'good guy' and 1 'bad guy'. I saw Fafa standing on top of the sandbox, quietly staring at the two older boys.
After the friend left, Nubbin got invited to Sissy's house to play. As Nubbin walked out the door with CharlieGraham, Fafa followed them eagerly. I could tell Fafa was excited because he thought he was going to Sissy's house too. But, when I scooped him up and closed the door, he started to wail... All he kept saying was, 'Go too, mommy! Go too...'
I know that he'll have his own friends someday, but you can't explain that to a 2 year old. So, I rocked him and gave him 3 pieces of chocolate which assuaged him until Husband came home for lunch. poor Fafa.
Welcome to the Wolfe den. This is a place where friends and family can get updates about our 2 cubs and a view of what it's like to be leader of the pack.

When we were young
This is a picture of me and MoD from 1983. We were vacationing at Carolina Beach... remember the boardwalk?I hope that my kids will some day have a great childhood friend to spend every summer with and have wonderful memories with. I also hope that they never get a Facebook account and post pictures of their childhood exploits... good or bad.

Superhero convention
Nubbin has been wearing his 'co-mer-o-CAN flag' all week long and was even spotted wearing just the flag this evening (we've moved from the poop phase to the 'I want to be naked at every chance I get' phase). As for Fafa, I love the fact that you can just see his eyes through the slit of the helmet.
Check Mate
Nubbin ended up playing with Husband while we pulled out the Simpson's chess board for Fafa who proceeded to play, 'good guys, bad guys' with the pieces. All we heard from Fafa was his imitation of laser sounds followed by, 'AHHHH, BAD GUYS!'

Family Matters...
This is the reason we went to DC... A family reunion of sorts to celebrate A-Wo's first birthday. It was a rare opportunity for Grandma to have all 6 kids plus 5 grandkids in one place at the same time. In fact, it's been awhile since we had this work because of everyone's busy schedules.
I hope that we'll get a chance to recreate this reunion... ahem... Grandma... which holiday are we spending with you in 2009 :) We were there to support Auntie Al and hope that our presence made the weekend enjoyable for her and baby A-Wo... We love you!
Movin' on up...
So, we trekked back up to DC for the first time in over 2 years for me and close to a year for Husband. How things change but still stay the same. Most of the friends we visited had new homes, new kids and new stories to tell which made me want to move back while all the traffic congestion and 'hot to trot' driving reminded me that I'm glad we left.
We had a grueling schedule, but I want to thank everyone that we had a chance to visit with for taking time out of their busy schedules to spend time with us :) What a wonderful city to visit and what wonderful memories... we'll be back soon!

Rock, paper, scissors
One of my favorite things to say is: 'You Rock!' . It pretty much gets used for praising everything from a kid getting into the car without being coerced or dragged to letting my girlfriends know that I support them in whatever they are doing.
Tonight, as Husband was walking out the bedroom door, I told Nubbin to tell Daddy that he 'rocked' for being such a great Dad... Nubbin paused and then yelled out, 'NO, scissors!' Apparently, Nubbin is more competitive than we initially thought.

Sh*t happens
I apologize in advance to my more gentle readers (yes, you Nana), but this is reality and it sucks. Nubbin has been regressing and now poops in his pants, again. He's been doing it every day since last Thursday. I did have success yesterday, but it required copious amounts of sugar.
How do you retrain a child who has been successfully pooping for a couple of months. And by successful, I mean not having to be told to poop, wiping himself, flushing the toilet, washing his hands AND turning off the light in the bathroom. The answer: no clue.
As my friend put it, 'Sounds like you have a behavioral problem and good luck figuring that out.' No sympathy for the devil. none.

Junk in the trunk
So, I have a tinge of guilt because I sent Frito's in Nubbin's lunchbox today. I wonder if the teacher will let him eat them. Nubbin probably won't eat the rest of his seemingly healthy lunch until he gets those chips... will he say he likes Miss Karen today? I think not.
