My lovely

'Lovely' is our nephew who lives in Wilmington. He's a special needs child and is so sweet and easy to love on. Today, he visited us in Cary. Nubbin was very interested and after some encouragement from Nana and me gave Lovely a hug. Bless his heart, Lovely lifted up his head and leaned into Nubbin... I caught the tender moment on my camera.... too cute.

Trick or treat

I've been fueling my Halloween craze by watching the Getz Gang get all excited about their costumes... CharlieGraham are going to be Transformers... pretty cool costumes, by the way.

So, I've been nudging Nubbin to tell me what he wants to be for Halloween. First, he decided he wanted to be a butterfly and Fafa should be a caterpillar. I asked him again tonight and he said he wanted to be a duck... not a robot, not a pirate, not a character from Star Wars, not a soldier with a 'shooter', but a duck. I think he's trying to tell me he's a lover, not a hater.

Do you need a tissue?

Husband taught Fafa to fake a sneeze. Now, Fafa goes around saying, 'AH, AH, AH, AH.... CHOOoooo' as loud as he can.

Lying down on the job

This is how Fafa likes to play with his cars and toys. I'm always tripping over him because he's usually sprawled out in the middle of the kitchen. Who needs a rug when you've got a Fafa...

'Pho' - tastic

Husband likes to experiment when he cooks. The funny thing is that he's the white guy and I'm the asian one, but he's usually the one who ends up cooking all the ethnic food we eat. He decided he wanted to make 'pho' which is a Vietnamese soup with thin slices of beef and noodles. We even made the trek to the asian market to find all the ingredients.

It was great, except he added way too many noodles... and by way too many, I mean they just soaked up all the broth and we ended up with noodles with a few slices of beef, bean sprouts and cilantro. He also added dumplings instead of the traditional meatballs.

So, the kids ate some of the noodles, bean sprouts and lime, but mostly threw the noodles around on the table... Husband commented that next time he won't add the noodles to the soup, just to the bottom of the each person's bowl. Now, that's using your noodle :)

Move over Rubenstein

The kids love 'playing' the piano... now, if I can just get them to sing something other than 'twinkle, twinkle'... Fafa is very good at using one finger to play the keys, but Nubbin still enjoys using his fists, elbows or even the occasional monster truck...

Please leave a message

I heard this mumbling coming from Fafa and went to the dining room to find him 'chatting' on the phone. This is coincidentally the same chair that I always use to talk on the phone... such a cute little copycat.
